  1. If the Client has their own Lawyer, let them keep that Attorney.
  2. If the Client asks YOU to refer an Attorney, then you have to be careful because if something goes wrong that should have been caught by that Attorney, your client will blame YOU for referring that Attorney. That can mean the end of a fruitful relationship with your client and possibly worse. A Real Estate Closing is the Biggest Financial Transaction that most people encounter in their lives. If you go to a Doctor, Dentist, car mechanic, or contractor, you want a person who is the Best at the trade that you can afford.

When the Client asks YOU to refer an Attorney, you do not want to say, “I can’t recommend one.” Your client will believe you are
INEXPERIENCED or AFRAID. Either presumption is a negative for YOU. So, YOUR decision to refer an Attorney is vital to the transaction and to your reputation.

  • What is that Attorney’s Real Estate Experience?
  • How long has the Attorney practiced?
  • Does the Attorney handle Real Estate Transactions?
  • Does the Attorney have a Positive Reputation in the Community?
  • What duties will the Attorney do?
  • Does that Attorney have back-up?
  • Does that Attorney have an Administrative Staff?
